Down the Hall
By Nathaniel Goldberg
Copyright 2000 Nathaniel Goldberg
A poem about a woman crying out in the night.

Down the Hall
She cries out in the night,
an unrelenting dirge
for no apparent reason
except disorientation.
She's just down the hall.
I've never seen her
but can imagine what
she looks like.
A frail woman with
powerful vocal cords...
She could be someone's mother
or a widow,
but chances are she's just alone.
