A poem about memories.

Where does my mind go when it goes?

I remember trading a lipstick and a mascara
With an Indian woman on Machu Picchu
For some hand-painted beads.
So why can’t I remember where I parked my car?

I remember the handsome gondolier
As he poled his gondola down the canals of Venice
While I waved grandly to the people on the banks,
Like the princess I was then.

I remember my children laughing with glee
While building snowmen in the backyard,
And I remember their eyes widen with wonder
When they saw the circus at Madison Square Garden.
That too, was long ago.

But yesterday, yesterday,
Oh, where did you go?
